Trading notes: Beautiful 4K capture of the San Francisco company with the post-shutdown script. It's filmed in 16:9 with a mix of wides, mediums, and closeups that beautifully capture the shows magic. There's some minor obstructions: the balcony railing can be seen at the bottom during wides and when the action takes place all the way at the front, and a head can be seen at the bottom right corner. There's almost no washout and wandering is minimal, but during darker scenes the action can be harder to make out. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

Ok phone boot of this iconic musical. Yay for trans actors!! Actors used the whole space, so on the extreme sides, action is missed. Heads always visible in shot but don't block much unless actors are sitting. During the last song, the person in front of me was annoyingly waving his arms above his head. Actors were occasionally right in front of me, so there are some nice close shots of them. Occasional underexposure, and increased readjustments and shakiness throughout. Shot from house right center aisle. Filmed in 4K, edited to 1080p.
TLDR: Trans people being iconic with some obstruction.

Trading notes: Not so great wide-shot phone boot from the front of the Mezz. Mostly unobstructed. One or two tiny scenes cut off by the speakers/tech on the right side of the stage. Unfortunately, a lot of focusing issues throughout. Not great for a first-time watcher of the show, but nice to see some of the projections/choreography/staging. This show was a couple days before opening night and the cast was all on their A game, and the audience was levitating. Thoroughly enjoyed the show and can't wait to go back and can't wait til other video masters get recordings of it. One of the best theater experiences I've had in years.

Master's notes: Filmed in 4K, released in 1080p and 4K. Filmed between a couple heads that occasionally got in the way when they leaned toward each other or when the guy lifted his arm to scratch his head - but rarely blocks significant action. A couple drop-outs when people nearby came in late or left early. Camera did not do well with one scene using a lot of blue light, but the rest of the show is beautifully filmed.

Some of the action at the very front is cut off, and when needed, the screens are occasionally filmed instead of the stage. Increased wandering and unfocusing throughout. Blackouts or complete obstruction during the audience dance sequences (not that anything happens), and the first one runs a little longer into the song. Elio stops in the middle of the famous line Figaro, just to be able to say figa (pussy) on Italian television.

A few heads obstruct the bottom of the video and right side of the stage but action is captured well. Recording gets better as show progresses.
