"Easter Bonnet Competition" to "Fiddler on the Roof" (50 recordings)

Trading notes: A roof-raising gospel revival, dancing divas in motorized scooters and even a parade of pooches helped make the 26th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition a memorable spectacle celebrating the incredible generosity and creativity of the theatre community and all Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS supporters. This year’s Easter Bonnet Competition raised $3,677,855, the result of six weeks of intensive fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by 51 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies.

Master's notes: Decent stage shot of the new tour. Mild washout during brightly lit scenes (first and last songs are the worst of it). Toward the end of act one there are some focus issues lasting under 5 minutes total. Act two is a bit mis-aimed and sometimes people are out of frame for a minute. I...kind of thought the show was over after Santa's sleigh flew and stopped filming, so Santa's little epilogue is missing. But video picks up again right before the final song/tap number.

Master's notes: Act 2 only. The very final moment of Lucheni is not recorded (last 5ish seconds). It’s not the best video, but it’s decently watchable. Don’t set your expectations too high, it’s a blind shot phone boot. Pia Douwes is still incredible as Elisabeth, Milan van Waardenburg is fantastic (to no one’s surprise), William Spaaij is a freak as Lucheni - in the most positive way.

Master's notes: The first minute or so is blacked out, but the rest of the show is still intact. Very steady filming with a mix of wide shots, and close-ups. 2 Discs. Produced under the title “Jane Austen’s Emma, A Musical Romantic Comedy”

Master's notes: Great 4K capture of this world premiere musical! One head obstruction that blocks the center-right, mostly when characters sit / lay on the floor, worked around fairly well but still some missed action. Some moments of wandering / readjustment and unfocusing throughout. Includes curtain call, audio fed from external source.

Trading notes: The production of An Enemy of the People for NET Playhouse aired on December 2, 1966. This version used the 1950 adaptation by Arthur Miller (originally from Henrik Ibsen), which Miller had famously written as a critique of McCarthyism. Released on DVD as part of the Broadway Theatre Archive.

Trading notes: Rehearsal footage of the original London cast. Its very interesting to see Hal Prince directing the cast.

Trading notes: Better than average for its age. The audio is solid, and there’s relatively little gen loss. However, there are some extended ducks. Includes a TV commercial. Often mislabelled as November 30, 1979. Multiple copies circulate, some with more gen loss than others. Make sure to ask for screencaps from the person you’re trading with. The screencaps seem to be from a copy with higher gen loss.

Trading notes: Mainly a stage shot with no zooms. Suffers from lots of generation loss, although audio is decent for its age. Includes bonus news reports at the end about Madonna filming for the 1996 movie

Trading notes: German tour of the Hungarian production. Looks like single-cam proshot.

Trading notes: Filmed in 16:9, SD, but upscaled to semi-HD 720p (one of a few older videos I've experimented with doing this with). Minimal obstruction, only at the bottom of widest shots. Featuring Canadian actor Stephen Patterson (Che) known from various US shows such as the Les Mis 3NT, Little Women tour, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels tour, etc. A nice production with some interesting choices.

Trading notes: Opening night of the Seventh National Tour. Act 2 only, ends during You Must Love Me. Blind shot that captures almost none of the stage, and centres mostly on the ceiling, although you do get occasional glimpses of the action and a view of the top of the beautiful backdrops this tour had to offer. Filmed with the intention of extracting the audio.

Trading notes: Beautiful HD capture with no obstructions. Josh and Caroline do a great job as Che and Eva. A solid tour, great performances and production value! A+

Master's notes: A perfect capture of this highly anticipated revival. Two or three focus issues in the first act that lasts a few seconds. A good mix of wides and mediums to get a clear sense of this production. At this performance Zegler was the best I’ve seen and heard her. A must see for fans of her and this revival! Recording includes the curtain call and marquee. Filmed in 4K. External audio used.

Minor obstruction on the bottom ride side that never blocks any significant action. Some wandering, shaking, and re-adjusting throughout. Audio is patched in from an external source, you might hear me coughing and/or sneezing -- sorry about that. Overall a fantastic capture.

Master's notes: Great capture of this immensely hyped production! Shot in a great mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups; the far right side of the stage is often cut off by a bar or lighting fixtures, but it's worked around well and not much action is missed because of this. Minimal wandering, shaking, and re-adjusting throughout. Audio is patched in from an external source. Includes bows. Slightly Zegler-focused; can you blame me? Overall a great capture of this inevitably Broadway-bound summer blockbuster.

Master's notes: Chess the musical has lyrics by Tim Rice, and is a bit of a rollercoaster that gets staged in various ways with a hardcore fanbase that will argue to the death. Evita does too. my first camera video, not as messy as you'd expect. Enjoy the James fancam in rainbow tour.

Trading notes: Bold, satirical and uncomfortably funny, Exodus explores systematic deception and the indifference to human suffering. In her bid to become the country’s leader, Home Secretary Asiya Rao prepares to make a major policy announcement that will establish her as the front-runner of the political race. Alongside her cut-throat and calculating advisor Phoebe, she embarks on a publicity stunt starting with a photo shoot by the white cliffs of Dover. But rather than the tide washing her reputation clean, something else washes up…

Trading notes: Lovely capture of this whimsical show. Act One is a phone stageshot with no zooms while Act Two was filmed on a camcorder. Both acts have occasional wandering, with the railing cutting off the feet of the actors, but almost all of the action is captured. Includes a hilarious mishap with Jason's costume falling apart upon his entrance, and the actors breaking character as Jason went backstage and came back without the wings for the rest of the show. Includes curtain call.

Master's notes: Solid capture of this very interesting staging of this musical theater masterpiece. Filmed during previews. Shot in a great mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups, with a bigger focus on wides here due to the ensemble nature of the piece. The first 2 minutes of act 1 are audio only and there are a good few dropouts that don't last too long and peter off as the video goes on. Large amount of wandering, shaking, and re-adjusting throughout. Overall a great capture only really marred by dropouts and readjustments.

Master's notes: Roughly an hour of 4K highlights from Act 1 of this show. Video starts near the end of Tradition and ends shortly after Tevye's Dream. Most of the footage between those songs is there, but there are a few blackouts throughout. Audio of Act 1 is complete. Had an annoying neighbor who couldn't decide whether to look suspiciously at me, be on her phone, or talk full volume to her neighbor. She can be heard sometimes in the audio. No obstructions. Mostly wides and mediums, often blindshot, with some closeups mixed in. Audio fed from external source. Worth the watch for fans of this show, the cast and staging were wonderful.
